14 days Rwenzori expeditions for all peaks
Day 1: Transfer to kasese
Pick up from your hotel in Entebbe and transfer to kasese , the drive will take us 4-5 hours to get to fort portal where you will have lunch at the gardens restaurant, after we shall proceed to mountains of the moon at base camp in Nyakalegija over night at equator snow for an overnight stay , meals plan is dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Nyakalengija 1650m – Nyabitaba camp 2650m +25°c
You wake up in the cool air nyakalengija hotels, meet your guides, escorts and soon set off on the 5 hours walk Nyabitaba camp at 2650m. You walk through a dense forest canopy, view variety of birds species, monkeys and you may have a chance to see the mountain elephants. It takes 6.5 km from nyakalengija to Nyabitaba camp.
Dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Nyabitaba camp 1650m – Johnmaate camp 3505m +15°c
The gloomy but breathtaking beautiful portal peaks greet you in the morning and shadow your right shoulder as you cross the confluence of the mubuku and Bujuku rivers by Kurt Shafer bridge, climbing and descending through bamboo forest, moss and lichen festooned trees Leeds you to Johnmaate camp. Here evening sun often brings a tantalizing glimpse of gold struck margherita and Alexandria peaks and you would enjoy seeing the Snow. This camp is often mentioned in relation to the Bukurungu and Bujuku trails and is located at 3505m providing access to lake Bujuku.
Day 4: Rest & Acclimatization
Enjoy a day of rest and acclimatization at this camp
Day 5: Johnmaate camp to bujuku camp 3900m
It’s a gentle walk from Johnmaate camp to bujuku camp though a bit challenging as it descends down to bigo camp. It gives you chance to see mount Baker, mount Stanley and mount Speke.
Takes 5 hours from Johnmate camp to bujuku camp.
Dinner and an overnight.
Day 6 : Bujuku camp 3900m – Elena camp 4541m -5°c
From Bujuku ,climb over a head of the gully, a metal ladder takes you over a steep section after which the trail cuts into two. The trail on your right leads up to Elena camp 4541m and mount Stanley on a steep trail over larger boulders, while the trail on your left leads to Scott Elliot pass 4300m and down to kitandara lakes camp.
From Bujuku to Elena takes 4 hrs walk then dinner and an over night.
Day 7: Rest & Acclimatization
Enjoy another day of rest and acclimatization. This is the last major rest stop before the final summit push. If conditions are unfavorable for the summit attempt, this day can be used to wait for a clear weather window.
Day 8: Elena camp 4541m – margherita peak 5109m and Albert peaks at once and return back to elena camp for dinner and an over night.
Day 9: Elena camp 4541m summit kipotegai peak and return back to Elena camp for dinner and an overnight
Day 10: Elena camp 4541m to kitandara lakes camp 4027m.
After breakfast descend down to kitandara by paddling on slippery rocks down to Scot Eliot pass. After this junction take on the right down to kitandara lakes camp for dinner and an overnight.
Day 11: kitandara lakes camp to mount luigi de savoi sella peak 4627
From kitandara lakes camp the trail ascends steeply taking you through senecio plants with good views of Congolese sides, mount Stanley. After taking the wonderous photos on top of sella peak return back to freshfield pass for wilderness dinner and an over night.
Day 12: Fresh field pass summit mount baker and continue down to Guyeoman camp 3505 m
Day 13: Guyeomans camp to nyabitaba and down to nyakalengija
]Your final day and all you can think of is a hot bath and a restaurant meal, but you have to wait a bit longer to walk through the bogs and bamboo forest to proceed your second glimpse of Nyabitaba to have a night or just a cup of coffee and onward to nyakalengija. You arrive in mid afternoon, exhausted, but with a smile and memories that won’t wash off with the dirty and tiredness in your hot shower diner and overnight at Equator snow
Day 14. Transfer to Kampala
The day begins with breakfast after we shall drive back to Kampala with lunch en route at fort portal, meanwhile as others are doing the shopping with more than 100 stalls of craft shops here as we wait for Lunch to get ready. Proceed to Entebbe get to Entebbe by 6:30 pm. and this will mark the end of our 15 days Rwenzori trekking expeditions for all peaks
